Founded in 2008 and formally registered in 2010, the KIRC Foundation was born out of a grassroots movement led by Bernard Benyah, our Executive Director. Witnessing firsthand the challenges rural families faced—ranging from harmful cultural practices to limited school resources—Bernard and a small group of volunteers committed themselves to fostering lasting change in their home district.
Our Mission
The KIRC Foundation is a registered NGO dedicated to promoting education, health, and well-being for children and youth across the 16 communities of the Komenda Edina Eguafo Municipality in Ghana’s Central Region. Guided by the belief that every child deserves access to quality learning and essential health services, we work to dismantle cultural, social, and economic barriers that keep young people from reaching their full potential.
Our Impact
Over the past 15 years, KIRC Foundation has:
Reached more than 5,000 individuals, including fishmongers, traders, traditional leaders, and students
Transformed social norms for over 3,000 rural community members through health and rights education
Provided direct care and support services to HIV/AIDS-affected families and vulnerable children
Engaged over 500 participants in menstrual hygiene management education, significantly increasing school attendance among adolescent girls.
